King of Morocco, HM King Mohammed VI, Delivers Speech to Nation on Green March 49th Anniversary

RABAT - His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in a momentous address to His beloved people on the significant occasion of the 49th anniversary of the revered Green March, emphasized the historic significance of this peaceful march which led to the recovery of the Moroccan Sahara and reinforced the deep bond between the inhabitants of the region and their motherland.

The King highlighted the strong attachment and unwavering commitment of the Sahrawi people to their Moroccan identity and the values enshrined in the longstanding historical relationship between the Sahara inhabitants and the Moroccan monarchy. He underscored the progress, security, and stability achieved in the Moroccan Sahara, as well as the increasing international recognition of the region as Moroccan territory, supported by the Autonomy Initiative.

Addressing the challenges posed by detractors clinging to outdated ideologies, the King reiterated Morocco's firm stance on safeguarding its territorial integrity and national sovereignty. He called upon the United Nations to differentiate between the legitimate reality upheld by Morocco in the Sahara and the detached world of illusion maintained by certain parties.

In line with the evolution of the issue of territorial integrity, the King emphasized the importance of united efforts, commended the patriotism displayed by Moroccans abroad, and announced plans to enhance institutional mechanisms for managing the affairs of the Moroccan expatriate community.

The establishment of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad and the "Mohammadia Foundation for Moroccans Residing Abroad" were highlighted as pivotal steps to better represent and support Moroccans living overseas. The new institutions aim to streamline services, facilitate investment opportunities, and enhance support for Moroccan expatriates in various aspects of their lives.

In commemorating the Green March and honoring the sacrifices of past generations, the King called for continued progress and development across all regions of Morocco, ensuring that prosperity reaches every citizen, maintaining the legacy and spirit of unity inspired by this historic event.

The King concluded his address by reaffirming his commitment to the well-being and advancement of the Moroccan people, paying tribute to the visionary leadership of His late Majesty King Hassan II, and invoking blessings and peace upon the righteous martyrs who sacrificed for the nation. (PERSIMA)
